The pre-election theme of the conference as outlined below in bold has been provided a powerful context by the 2019 General Election. A frequent refrain since has been “what does this mean for youth work and for young people?”
The original question Is In Defence a longing for a youth work future that never really happened, that our present has always been about disjunctures between its imagined past and its imagined future? is still relevant, but so is the youth work present which the election result has brought into sharp focus. So it is important that we do not lose sight of this on the day as, after all, we do make the road by walking.
