On June 5th the JNC Staff Side for Youth and Community Workers will be holding a national rally to support the pay claim at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, behind Holborn Tube, 12noon till 4.00pm. The importance of this year’s JNC claim hardly needs spelling out and a full copy can be found here. We need a huge turnout at this event. Please attend and bring your work colleagues. It is a joint union event. Please distribute the flyer widely.

On June 19th Unite are holding a rally in Coventry. The focus of the rally is support for our members in Coventry who have taken industrial action for over 21 weeks to defend the JNC , youth work and jobs. We are asking everyone to support this because what is proposed in Coventry is a thin end of the wedge situation and it could be you next. All unions and youth and community workers are welcome. Again please circulate the flyer to all and sundry.

Dr. Mariela Macri (University of Buenos Aires) will present the paper “Working and Studying in Argentina: Teenagers Perspectives and Strategies”.
This presentation explores the relationship between work and schooling for Argentinean teenagers aiming to understand what is the daily life of student-worker teenagers like and what are their perceptions and expectations about education and the future.Day: Wednesday 26th May
