Blackpool Council has issued redundancy notices to more than one-third of its youth service team as part of plans to restructure in the wake of government cuts to local authority grants.
In the midst of the local row as to whether managers are being protected at the expense of workers we trip over the remarks of the ill-named Development Manager for Young People’s Services. She observes
“We will make decisions on what the structure of the youth service will look like first. We know if this results in chopping the service by half, then we’ll only need half the management structure.”
Not much development going on there. Whatever it is a messy and nasty situation. And is it the tip of the iceberg? We’ll try to get more news from on the ground.
