I had a brief and dispiriting conversation late last night with a couple of young people, who been policed through the streets of London yesterday. They were down in the dumps, feeling that the demo had been so controlled and saying that they had felt intimidated throughout. “The atmosphere was stifling”, one said.
In contrast Michael White in a cynical Guardian piece prefers to paint a picture of a largely good-natured affair.

The Met strategy included the involvement of undercover cops, the use of which clearly sows anxiety and even suspicion within the demonstration. Witness this aggressive, arrogant bullying.
Any thoughts from folk, who were there yesterday. To call the day peaceful seems contradictory, given 4,500 police were placed on a war-like footing.
