Further to our post welcoming this initiative from Jason Pandya-Wood, A Campaign for Youth Work, a date for an initial meeting has been set. The coming together of kindred spirits will take place on Friday, September 18 in the Chaucer Building, Nottingham Trent University from 11.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. Full details plus registration at:

Jason writes:
Friends, some of us have expressed a desire to build a 2-3 year political engagement strategy to argue the case for investment in youth work. We want to learn lessons from our campaigns to date, and draw on other successful models of engagement (e.g. through broad based community organising).
Please join us at our first meeting in Nottingham. Refreshments and lunch will be provided – please let us know if you have any particular dietry requirements.
The event is open to all who are interested in campaigning for youth work – practitioners, young people, academics and others. I only ask that attendees come ‘minded’ to take responsibility for taking forward outcomes/actions.
Unfortunately a couple of us from IDYW are committed to a European Erasmus meeting in Birmingham on that day, but we will certainly be represented. We would encourage as many people as possible to get there and get involved.
