FROM COOPERATION TO COMPETITION : FIGHT THE NEWCASTLE CLOSURES!

This hard-hitting leaflet needs no extra words from us. However, for further background, go to Michael Bell’s enlightening From cooperation to competition and fragmentation on the NCIA site – a sobering antidote to the propaganda of the youth sector’s cheerleaders for commissioning.

In Defence of Youth Work..

In Defence of Children & Young People..

In Defence of Neighbourhoods

GOING FROM A NEIGHBOURHOOD NEAR YOU…SOON?

NEWCASTLE CITY COUNCIL PLANS TO MAKE £90 MILLION POUNDS OF SAVAGE CUTS OVER THE NEXT 3 YEARS WHICH WILL UNFAIRLY EFFECT CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE AND RUIN OUR NEIGHBOURHOODS AND COMMUNITIES.

  •               GET RID OF ALL COUNCIL YOUTH WORKERS & CLUBS – YOUNG PEOPLES RIGHTS UNDER ATTACK!
  •          SELL OFF NEIGHBOURHOOD YOUTH WORK TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER
  •          GET RID ALL THE PLAY CENTRES – YOUR CHILDREN’S RIGHTS ARE UNDER ATTACK!
  •          CUT 10 LOCAL LIBRARIES AND MANY SWIMMING POOLS AND LEISURE CENTRES WHICH ARE WELL USED BY CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE – YOUR RIGHT TO PUBLIC LEISURE SERVICES IS UNDER ATTACK!

THESE CUTS ARE SO BRUTAL, THEY WILL LEAVE THE COMMUNITIES WE LIVE IN BROKEN FOR DECADES TO COME WITH A LACK OF ESSENTIAL SERVICES, PLACES TO GO, PLACES TO MEET AND THINGS TO KEEP US OCCUPIED.

ARE YOU WILLING TO SEE THE FUTURE OF YOUR NEIGHBOURHOODS DESTROYED BY POLITICIANS

“Where are all the children going to go? They’ll just sit on the street corner and drink and take drugs. I don’t want that for my daughter” Nurse from Newcastle- (Chronicle 21.11.12)

Government departments need to rethink the undeliverable cut…and the changes appear to hit Newcastle and Tyneside worse than many other parts of the country” City Treasurer Paul Woods

IF IT’S UNDELIVERABLE THEN DON’T DELIVER IT!

THE TIME TO STAND UP FOR YOUR COMMUNITY IS NOW HERE! WE MUST SAY..

NO TO ALL COUNCIL CUTS! NO TO AUSTERITY!

NO TO ATTACKS ON THE POOR, THE ELDERLY, CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE!

NO TO THE GOVERNMENTS ATTACKS ON OUR NEIGHBOURHOODS!

What can we all do about it …

WE HAVE UNTIL 1ST FEBRUARY 2013 TO STOP THESE CUTS AS THE COUNCIL AIM TO CONSULT WITH US ABOUT THEIR PROPOSALS
