A striking feature of the Young Foundation’s Framework of Outcomes for Young People, widely touted as the way forward for youth work, is its utter disregard for issues of structural inequality and ideological imperatives. For example gender is conspicuously ignored. In this context it is heartening to receive this report of the Youth & Policy conference, ‘Thinking Afresh : Feminism and Youth Work’.

The pluralist feel of the event is indicated by the keynote contributions made by the CEO of the Girl Guides, Julie Bentley and the Director of UK Feminista, Kat Banyard, author of ‘The Equality Illusion: The Truth about Men and Women Today’.

Many thanks to Paula Connaughton for this comprehensive report.
